Def Jam RecordsKanye West not only covers the new issue of Paper magazine, but Kanye himself penned the piece, in which he talks about his vision and labels himself an innovator.
“Graduation was an innovation. 808s & Heartbreak was an innovation. The song ‘N***as in Paris’ was an innovation. ‘Only One’ was an innovation. ‘FourFiveSeconds’ was an innovation,” he writes. “I care about innovating. I don’t care about capitalizing off of something that we’ve seen or heard a thousand times. I’m not a capitalist in that way. I’m an innovator. That’s my job.”
West adds, “I think the scariest thing about me is the fact that I just believe. I believe awesome is possible and I believe that beauty is important.”
In his cover story, Kanye reflects on the barriers he faces in fashion, the American dream, Steve Job’s influence and more. Visit PaperMag.com to read the full article.
