Kanye West has become synonymous with Twitter rants, so it should come as no big surprise that he’s been named among the most influential people on the Internet in Time magazine’s second annual roundup.
The publication applauds the mogul for his global impact on social media and overall ability to drive news. “The artist and entrepreneur has perfected the art of the Twitter spree, sharing candid thoughts that are often just as provocative — if not more so –than his music,” the mag writes. “His tweets can be controversial (see: his comments on Amber Rose and Bill Cosby) and confusing (like his revelation that he’s $53 million in debt), but many do offer constructive criticism of the fashion and music industries.”
Other celebrities featured on the list include Drake, for understanding the “power of a meme”; DJ Khaled, for becoming a Snapchat king with more than 20 million followers; and of course, Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, who is described as “one of the most-watched people on the planet.”
