Kandi Burruss Spills on Her Coming to America-Themed Wedding

by

Alex Martinez/BravoKandi Burruss and TV producer Todd Tucker tied the knot last week, and now the R&B singer and Real Housewives of Atlanta star is spilling details about the affair.

“The whole thing was like a fairy tale!” she told In Touch.

According to the magazine, which released the first photos of the event, Burruss, 37, and Tucker, 40, wed inside Atlanta’s Le Fais Do-Do event facility in front of 300 guests. Bravo revealed earlier this week that the wedding had a Coming to America theme, a nod to the pair meeting in Africa while filming RHOA.

“I didn’t know if I was going to be able to pull this all together,” Kandi said, adding that she planned her entire wedding in just a month.

Burruss’ bridesmaids included matron of honor Tamera Wynn; maid of honor Carmon Cambrice; rapper T.I.’s wife, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris; Fantasia Barrino; Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Rasheeda Frost; and RHOA’s Phaedra Parks and Joyce Dallas.  The entire wedding party wore white, including Burruss, who wore a $20,000 Reco Chapple gown with a 12-foot train. Chapple competed on Bravo’s The Fashion Show.

Burruss also told the magazine that she didn’t want to wait any longer for her mother’s approval to walk down the aisle. Joyce Jones‘ disapproval of Tucker has been well documented on Burruss’ hit reality series. “I couldn’t wait around hoping things would get better,” she said of her decision. “I just had to do it and hope for the best.”

Still, Tucker hasn’t won over Jones just yet. “Time will tell if Todd gets my blessing, but if Kandi’s happy, then I need to be happy for her,” Jones told In Touch.

The newlyweds got engaged on New Year’s Day in 2013.  The two first met in 2011 while shooting Real Housewives, where Tucker was a behind-the-scenes producer.  He now appears on the show.  The pair each have one child from previous relationships.
