Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent has been sentenced by a jury of his peers to 10 years probation and 180 days of jail time. Brent faced up to 20 years behind bars or as little as probation. A jury began deliberations late Thursday and delivered a verdict shortly before 11:30 a.m. Friday.Brent was convicted of intoxication manslaughter on Wednesday in the Dec. 2012 death of Jerry Brown in a car wreck where Brent was the driver and Brown the passenger. Authorities said Brent’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. The mother of Brown was the final person to testify on Thursday and told the court she doesn’t hold a grudge against Brent over her son’s death. “We all make mistakes,” Stacey Jackson, Brown’s mother, said. Jackson’s testimony was emotional, at times tearing up on the stand. Check back for any more details as they come in.
