John Legend’s “All of Me” has been called the wedding song of the year, and now that he’s married, John says he’s reluctant to write songs about breaking up.
Legend, who married supermodel Chrissy Teigen last September, says that the pair has attracted so much attention, he has to be very careful about the songs he composes.
He told the U.K.’s Daily Star, “If I write about relationships gone bad in the future, I worry that people will think my marriage has gone bad.”
The nine-time Grammy Award winner says only writing positive love songs may not be an option. “I got known for writing about men who cheat on my first album Get Lifted in 2004, and my fans won’t always want me to be so lovey-dovey in every song.”
Legend is signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, and he admits they are not always on the same page in the recording studio.
“We try to get to a place where we agree on a song, but occasionally I put something on that I love and Kanye isn’t too fond of,” Legend says. “He is so honest that people think there must be something else behind it, but it’s just him telling the truth as he sees it.”
