John Legend already had a game plan mapped out going into 2016. Although he’s anxiously preparing to welcome his first child with Chrissy Teigen later this year, the singer recently told ABC Radio that he’s already making progress with his fifth studio album.
“Oh, it’s coming,” Legend assures fans. “I’ve got a lot of songs already written and we’re going to do a lot of recording in the new year and we’re going to be on a break-neck pace to get everything recorded and get it going.”
Legend doesn’t feel too worried about out-doing the success of “All of Me,” which later became his first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 and the third best-selling song of 2014. Any pressure he feels he says comes from within.
“I put pressure on myself, you know, I want it to be great, I want it to be better. I want to keep progressing, try new things, work with new producers and co-writers and push myself to be better each time,” he says before adding: “It’s not negative, though, it’s a challenge for me and it’s a good challenge to try and be better every time.”
Legend’s next effort will serve as the follow-up to 2013’s Love in the Future, which spawned not only “All of Me,” but also “Made to Love”, “Who Do We Think We Are” and “You & I (Nobody in the World).”
