Wale and Jerry Seinfeld may seem like an odd combination, but the comedian and the rapper have a mutual admiration and Seinfeld is helping to promote the Wale’s new album, The Album About Nothing.
The duo are starring in their own web series, and in their latest episode, Wale predicts Seinfeld will win a Grammy for inspiring the song, “The White Shoes.”
Seinfeld recalled white shoes were not cool when he was a child. “When I grew up, grown ups wore black shoes.” He continued, “And then [Bill] Cosby wore white sneakers on I Spy and then Joe Namath wore white shoes with the ’69 Jets, and it was like, it’s okay to wear white shoes.”
Wale commented. “I think white shoes make people happy.”
The Album About Nothing, including “The White Shoes,” will be released March 31 featuring Usher, Jeremih, J. Cole and commentary from Seinfeld.
