Jennifer Hudson may have turned it up a notch in the video for her new single, “I Can’t Describe (the Way I Feel)” featuring T.I., but she has no intentions of lacing her third album with sex songs. In an interview with the Huffington Post, the singer explained why her project will stand out from the rest.
“Singing about the same old things in music is so overrated,” she explained. “Sex, drinkin’, the club. Okay, especially sex. Like, we are grownups, we ain’t got over that, like, really? Ain’t you too old for that kind of thing? Can you talk about something else? I get annoyed with those things.”
Instead, Hudson revealed that she plans to introduce fans to her fierce side. “I call her Jones,” she says of her alter ego who appears in her newly released video. “That’s Jones, that’s not Jennifer. It’s so different, it’s really cool, and the music is, too.
She adds that her next studio album will be released this spring. “We’re literally still in the studio recording,” she says before adding, “I got to work with Timbaland, and Pharrell, and R. Kelly.”
