ABC/Craig SjodinJennifer Hudson has cemented her place as a worldwide superstar.
From her start as an American Idol finalist to Hollywood celebrity, the Grammy and Oscar-award winning vocalist has just signed an exclusive contract with Epic Records.
A press release confirms that Hudson will collaborate with music moguls LA Reid and Clive Davis on her forthcoming album, which will also mark her Epic Records debut. Reid and Davis will perform executive production duties on the upcoming release.
“Jennifer Hudson is the defining voice of this generation,” Mr. Reid states.
“I signed Jennifer in 2007 and believe her to be the strongest candidate as the next generation’s Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston,” adds Mr. Davis.
Epic Records congratulated Hudson via Twitter, with a heartfelt welcome message.
Hudson herself is filled with joy regarding the news and is looking forward to working with Reid and Davis.
“I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this new chapter with two of the most prolific musical legends of this generation,” says Hudson.
“There is no doubt that this is just the beginning of a very special collaboration and I know that the result will be something unforgettable.”
Hudson is riding high after her recent performance at the 2016 BET Awards — she sang a moving version of “Purple Rain” as a tribute to Prince.
