J. Cole Releases Surprise Album, Forest Hills Drive Live

Photo by Isaac Brekken/WireImageWithout warning, J. Cole has followed in Rihanna‘s footsteps and surprise-released his latest project, Forest Hills Drive Live.

The rapper decided to drop the project to coincide with his birthday on Thursday, January 28. The set features 13 tracks recorded live during Cole’s sold-out show at Crown Coliseum in his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina, last fall. Earlier this month, the same show was featured in his HBO documentary Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming.

“History turned into an album. Forest Hills Drive Live available now,” Cole tweeted. “What a year. Hip hop deserves a live album.”
