Iggy Azalea Is Taking Time Away from Twitter

by

ABC/Randy HolmesIggy Azalea is taking a hiatus from social media.

The rapper announced that she has turned over her Twitter account to her management team, after unflattering images from her Hawaii vacation with her boyfriend Nick Young surfaced online.

“Just got back from a great vacation, came online and saw apparently it’s shocking and unheard of to be a woman and have cellulite. Lol,” she wrote. “I just want to have peace and relaxation time without a perve with long distance lense hiding out taking pictures, everyone deserves peace.”

Her decision seemingly goes beyond the paparazzi snaps; she’s also frustrated with all the negativity on the social networking site. Iggy has famously engaged in a series of social networking flaps on Twitter and Instagram including a beef with Snoop Dogg over white rappers, a public battle with Steve Madden over a photo shoot she did for the designer and a recent dust-up with Papa John’s over accusations that a pizza delivery person gave out her personal information, among others.

“I feel the hatred and pettiness i see online at all times is at making me become an angry person and I cannot be that,” she explained in a series of tweets. “To become nasty because of the way I feel iam treated would be a disservice to my fans and I promise i will try to keep smiling. … But I also want to let my fans know iam taking some time away from social media. I need to be happy and it is too negative and draining.”

Iggy assures fans that her management team “will tweet/run my accounts from today onwards with updates etc,” she noted, “unless any message is signed -IA.”

As she gears up for her Great Escape Tour with Tinashe, which kicks off April 14 in Fresno, California, Iggy signed off with one final tweet: “The Internet is the ugliest reflection of mankind there is.”
