Erykah Badu (Photo by Marc Baptiste)Neo-soul singer Erykah Badu and hip-hop artist, Andre 3000 are relishing in their parenting skills – as their 18-year-old son Seven, has been accepted into four colleges.
The proud mama made the announcement on Monday via Twitter, offering a throwback photo of her son as a young child with her then boyfriend and father of Seven, Andre “Three Stacks” Benjamin.
The neo-soul songstress expresses her excitement, writing, “Our son Seven got his 4 college choice acceptance letters.”
“Makes parents feel good. Dream worked,” she adds.
The former hip-hop couple welcomed their son Seven into the world on November 18, 1997, but split two years later.
According to Badu, Andre remained an active figure in Seven’s life, traveling between cities to take care of his son.
“Andre BEEN back & forth tween Dallas and ATL & ALWAYS took care of his son since birth. He moved here /dallas for high school permanently,” she tweets.
While many may think that Seven would be interested in following in his parents’ footsteps, Badu debunks the idea revealing that her son is on an entirely different track.
Erykah reveals, “We got a psychology /arts and science major. Go 7.”
