The singer joined the ranks of A-list celebrities, dignitaries and politicians for the TIME magazine “100 Most Influential People” gala at New York City’s Lincoln Center. The event, which celebrates the coveted issue that will be released in May, highlights the most prominent and influential figures in their respected fields.
As a TIME icon, Minaj headlined the event preforming a medley of hits, including “The Crying Game,” “Truffle Butter,” “Moment 4 Life,” “Feeling Myself,” and “Super Bass.”
According to reports, when it came time for Nicki to rap “Anaconda,” she dedicated the performance to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden.
“I’m very political, and I would like to dedicate a song, just in the spirit of unity, to Joe Biden and Donald Trump,” Minaj told the audience. She later asked, “Do you think they like that song? Who do you think likes the biggest butts, Donald Trump or Joe Biden?”
Minaj previously discussed politics in a December 2015 interview with Billboard. The Queens rapper admitted she supported and felt inspired by Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton as a woman, but did not officially endorse her for president.
When it came to Trump, Minaj laughed at the candidate’s antics, saying, “There are points he has made that may not have been so horrible if his approach wasn’t so childish. But in terms of entertainment — I think he’s hilarious. I wish they could just film him running for president.”
