Earl Gibson IIIIconic gospel singer Shirley Caesar was awarded her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Tuesday.
The 11-time Grammy-award winner was honored in the Recording category during the special event.
Renowned gospel music artists Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin also joined Pastor Caesar as guest speakers during the ceremony. Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leron Gubler was the event’s emcee and declared the day “Shirley Caesar Day.”
A press release notes that Caesar gave an inspiring speech, filled with encouraging words to her family, friends, peers and fans.
“I honor the Lord for this wonderful privilege….I feel as if I’m in a beautiful fairytale. Who wouldn’t serve a God like this? One who keeps blessing and showing you that your latter can be greater than your former. Been through the storm and the rain, but it’s alright, it’s OK. I made it!, she exclaimed.
Caesar is one of gospel music’s brightest stars — her career includes 40 albums during the course of 60 years. She released her latest album, Fill This House, on June 3, which has spent two consecutive weeks at the top of Billboard‘s Top Gospel Albums chart.
