On WeTV’s new hit reality show, SWV Reunited, Tamara “Taj” George opens up about her past romantic relationships where she suffered abuse. The 42-year-old mother of two said she unfortunately witnessed abuse as a child, and it continued into her adult life.
“I grew up in a domestic violence household,” she tells ABC News Radio, adding that her high school boyfriend was also abusive.
“It’s not something I wanted to do [and it’s] nothing I wanted to experience and I for damn sure wasn’t going to bring no kids into that,” George continues. “So he was definitely out of the picture.”
“Domestic violence, or violence, or an abuse, they come in all different kind of forms because my first boyfriend was physically abusive [and] the boyfriend after that was mentally abusive,” George admits. “He would tell me, ‘You’re fat! You don’t look right!’ …and I would just strip down to the bone; whatever he needed. He told me I was fat. I lost 30 pounds.”
Thankfully, George now has a loving husband, former NFL player Eddie George. The two have been married since 2004. “He’s supportive,” she says. “Whatever I want to do, he’s willing to do it.”
WeTV’s SWV Reunited, which follows ‘90s R&B trio SWV as they embark on a comeback tour across the U.S., airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
