Flavor Flav was arrested on Long Island Thursday morning, after he was allegedly caught speeding and driving with a suspended license.
According to the New York State Police, the 54-year-old rapper — born William Jonathan Drayton Jr. — was pulled over by troopers for driving 79 mph in a 55 mph zone on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead at around 9:30 a.m.
During a routine check, authorities discovered Flav was driving with 16 suspensions on his license and a “small amount” of marijuana inside his vehicle, according to police.
The rapper was arrested for felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and traffic violations, but was soon released on an appearance ticket so he could attend a funeral for his mother, Anna Drayton, who passed away last month. “I’m gonna miss her,” he wrote on Twitter. “She lived a good life.”
Flav is scheduled to appear at Nassau County court in Hempstead on January 28.
