First Week Sales Projections Big for Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2”

by Timberlake may be about to do what what few artists have done before: score two number-one-selling albums in one year.

According to Billboard, the sales estimates for Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2 suggest that his project will debut with approximately 325,000 copies sold its opening week.  While the forecast indicates a strong sales start, it won’t best the album’s predecessor, The 20/20 Experience, which moved 968,000 units the first week of its March release.  If those projections hold true, The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2 will also mark the lowest first-week sales of Justin’s solo career: 2002’s Justified debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, but it sold 439,000 copies in its first week.

In case you were wondering why JT and other major albums were released on Monday this week, instead of Tuesday, it was likely due to Monday, September 30 being the final day of the eligibility period for the upcoming Grammy Awards.

In related news, Billboard also estimates that this week’s current chart-topper, Drake, will slide to the number-two position with his latest album, Nothing Was the Same.
