No, this is not an image from an upcoming Calvin Klein ad. This man is Jeremy Meeks, a 30-year-old apprehended by police on Wednesday on five weapons charges and one gang charge, in California, after he and three other men were allegedly found in possession of four guns, two rifles, a handgun, and a shotgun, during a police sweep of the area.
Meeks’s post has “gone viral,” as they say, after the Stockton police department posted the mug shots of the four individuals on its Facebook page; the image of Meeks has drawn more than 50,000 likes, 5,500 shares, and 15,000 comments as of Friday morning. (In comparison, the mug shots of the three other men have garnered 23 likes, 1,210 likes, and 81 likes.) According to the New York Daily News, at least three “faux” Facebook pages have been created for Meeks, including one with a “love boat” background.
A Stockton police officer told the AP that Meeks is “one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area.” Meeks’s bail is currently set at $900,000, which, per the Daily News, “at least two women have joked about splitting.”
