Aftermath RecordsAlthough he’s contributed to the Southpaw soundtrack, Eminem is telling fans that they may have to wait longer for new material, because Slim Shady is still trying to “figure out” the direction for this next album.
In a new interview with The New York Times in promotion of the upcoming film, which he executive produced, the rapper reveals that he hasn’t started working on his next studio effort.
“I’m just trying to figure out what to do next musically,” he says. “There’ll be a certain page that I get on, and I’m like, ‘OK, I’ve done it this way.’ Sometimes I think that if I get comfortable or set in my ways of doing something, maybe I should step back for a minute and figure out how to mix it up a little bit.”
Em reveals that even after all his success he feels like he must outperform his previous material. “I feel like I’m still trying to. And sometimes I don’t know if that’s always a good thing,” he says. “I’m my own worst nightmare in that sense.”
