Drake’s “Nothing Was the Same” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Jason Merritt/Staff/Getty ImagesAs expected, Drake’s third studio album, Nothing Was The Same, has scored the number-one position on the Billboard 200 chart this week, making the album his third consecutive chart-topper.

According to the publication, Drizzy sold 658,000 copies of the new album in its first week, marking the second-largest sales week of 2013 behind Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience, which moved 968,000 units in March.

Drake’s newly-issued project not only serves as his most successful sales start — 2011’s Take Care started with 631,000 units and 2010’s Thank Me Later launched with 447,000 — but its also the biggest sales week for any rap album since Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter IV topped the charts in 2011 with 964,000 copies sold its first week out.

In related news, Drake is getting himself ready for his upcoming 39-date Would You Like a Tour, kicking off October 18 in Pittsburgh. In a new promo video posted on, Drizzy promises that he’ll be physically fit for the trek by lifting weights, flipping tires, and sprinting, as well as rehearsing with tour mates Miguel and Future.
