HRM Records/International Arts MusicDMX was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly failing to pay his ex-wife and their four children $10,000 a month in child support.
USA Today reports the rapper, whose legal name is Earl Simmons, was arrested at his home in Yonkers, New York, on a contempt of court charge from back in July.
Simmons was released later Tuesday without bail after arguing in court that he couldn’t make money without performing, which he was trying to do. “All I have is my name and my reputation,” he added, saying that playing shows is “only way I can make a living.”
Simmons, who recently served three month in jail also tied to unpaid child support charges, is due back in court November 18.
