As Drake and Kanye West feud and battle for supremacy on the music charts, another icon is admiring their work.
Diddy, who launched the careers of several stars, including the late Notorious B.I.G., loves both of their new albums. He listened to Drizzy’s Certified Lover Boy and Yeezy’s Donda, and praises both projects.
“You guys are true kings of creativity,” Diddy said in an Instagram video he recorded while on a boat off the island of Capri in Italy. “Thank y’all for the inspiration.”
CLB and Donda have set many records, and the Bad Boy Entertainment CEO says that’s another example of the global impact of hip-hop.
“That’s the reach and the power that we have, and I really wanna take my hat off to these brothers for both sharing their truths.”
Donda sold 309,000 units in its first week, more than any other album this year. Certified Lover Boy was streamed 153 million times on Spotify during its first day, marking the biggest 24-hour debut in the platform’s history. It broke the record of 132 million set by Drake’s own 2018 album, Scorpion, according to Forbes.
Diddy says there are no losers as Drake and Kanye compete for number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.
“They both win,” he comments. “We win…and I think that’s why we are witnessing two greats and I am having a ball. The music sounds beautiful. Don’t stop guys.”
