Peaceful Protest Turned Fatal Leaves 5 Officers Dead

The aftermath of the Dallas Shooting on July 7th left 5 Officers dead, Fox 4 News Identified three officers as Patrick Zamarrip, Michael Krol, and Brent Thompson. Dallas Chief of Police, David Brown, addressed the media on the Dallas Police Department interactions with the suspect at El Centro College where he was killed. Chief David Brown mentioned, “..the suspect is deceased because of the detonation of the bomb, not by committing suicide.” He also stated the suspect mentioned during negotiation he[the suspect] “was upset about black lives matters, recent police shootings, upset at white people, and he wanted to kill white people specifically white officers. The suspect was not affiliated w/ any groups and he stated he “did this alone.”

July 8th in Downtown Dallas at Belo Garden hundreds of people gathered for a peaceful protest in support of bringing awareness and peace to communities. The K104 Street Team was on the scene as people gathered with signs, creative shirts, and posters of civil rights figures and various quotes. A protestor heavily expressed “She’s charging every African Americans to stand up and save a life…come to Oakcliff, come to South Dallas help these young men”.

Fox Reported the Shooting in Downtown Dallas after the rally was over. Hundreds of people recorded what was going on on their phones from officers running, kids and mothers taking safety. Sounds of screams and gunshots from recordings of phones helps spread the news of what on and how it rapidly took over social media.
