Chris Brown’s Assault Trial to Begin Monday

by

RCA RecordsChris Brown‘s misdemeanor assault trial has been delayed to Monday morning in Washington D.C. Superior Court, according to the Washington Post.

Before Brown’s trial begins, the judge will issue a verdict in the case against Brown’s bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, who is accused of assisting the singer in allegedly attacking a man outside the W Hotel last year in D.C.  That verdict was expected Friday after two days of testimony earlier in the week, but Senior Judge Patricia W. Wynn said she need more time to deliberate in that case, the paper reports.

On Friday, Brown made a brief appearance in court to learn about his rescheduled trial date.  Brown’s trial had been set to start Friday. The singer, who was ushered in by U.S. Marshals, smiled and waved at his encourage, which included Bow Wow, Tank and his girlfriend Karrueche Tran, according to the Post.

If convicted in the D.C. case, beside facing a possible six months in jail and a $1,000 fine in that city, the singer could face problems in California where he is on probation stemming from his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.   If he is found to have violated his probation in Los Angeles, he could face four years in a California prison.
