CeeLo Green finds joy in the wake of sadness in the video for “Music to My Soul,” a new single from his upcoming album Heart Blanche.
In the clip, which was shot in New Orleans, the singer celebrates the loss of a loved one with a traditional Nola jazz band and funeral procession.
CeeLo revealed that the video was created to remove the sadness that surrounds a death. “It’s about culture, community and commitment to the death,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “So what you see is a celebration of life in the grandest fashion like only New Orleans can bring to existence.”
The theme reflects the theme of his album. “The term Heart Blanche essentially means freedom to feel and fantasize; to open wide, explore, escape, and ultimately, finding the way that works for you, even if it’s the road less traveled” Green added.
Led by the singles “Robin Williams” and “Sign of the Times,” Heart Blanche arrives November 13.
