Busta Rhymes Arrested for Assault

by

Kelsey McNeal/FOXBusta Rhymes was briefly behind bars in New York City after allegedly throwing a protein beverage in a gym.

According to a criminal complaint, the rapper was working out at Steel Gym in the Chelsea area of New York on Wednesday night when he got into an argument with an employee.

The 43-year-old rapper allegedly threw a bottle of protein drink at the unnamed man, who complained that his head suffered bruising, swelling and substantial pain. He ultimately pressed charges and Busta was arrested for second-degree assault.  He was released on his own recognizance four hours later.

“This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta. He did nothing wrong. This is a bunch of bull,” said attorney Scott Leemon.

After being released, Busta wrote on Instagram that he was “super good” and revealed that he was going to channel his frustration into his music.

“Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. I’m good and we’re back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bulls*** into GREATNESS. I’m super good,” he wrote in the caption.
