It looks like the rumors were true: Brandy has split from her fiancé, music exec Ryan Press.
“They are no longer together. The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on,” a rep for the R&B singer told US Weekly. “They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship,” adding, “They haven’t ended things on a bad note and they still speak all the time.”
Brandy and Ryan confirmed their engagement in December of 2012. This would’ve been Brandy’s first marriage, though for a while, she pretended to have tied the knot with her daughter Sy’rai‘s father, Robert Smith.
“Brandy has a daughter and she still wants to be married and have more kids but she is working on so many other things right now,” the singer’s rep said.
Brandy’s brother Ray J appeared to confirm her split from Ryan last month. When asked by ABC News Radio whom he sees her romantically involved with, now that she’s single, Ray J, replied, “I’m overprotective so I don’t really care as long as she’s happy. You know?” He added, “Every guy is crazy. I know I am so I just want to make sure she’s happy and then I got her back — whatever she wants to do.”
