Credit: ABC/Kevin MazurBig Sean enjoyed lots of success early in the year, beginning with his hit single “I Don’t F*** with You,” lifted from Dark Sky Paradise, his first number-one album on the Billboard 200 chart.
The rapper tells Billboard that power couple Beyonce and Jay Z, knew he had a hit on his hands. “I remember I played it for Hov, too, and Beyonce, and they was like, you need to drop this one,” Sean recalled. “It’s crazy.”
Sean adds that his main focus is always providing quality music. “I wasn’t looking at it from the perspective of a single ‘cause I’m not really into that,” he continued. “I just care about the music getting to the people.”
The rapper still can’t believe his album’s success. “First, it was just No. 1 on iTunes, like the night it came out and I hadn’t slept in three days,” Sean recalls of receiving the big news, “but I never felt more awake.”
