Cliff Lipson/CBSBeyonce and Jay Z were everywhere in 2014, including a city near you. So it should come as no surprise that the power couple were recognized by Pollstar, the publication that tracks the concert industry, in its 2014 chart of Top 20 Worldwide Tours.
The Carters’ tour came in at #5, grossing $109.7 million and selling more than 979,000 tickets, significantly less than their friend, the #2 man on the list, Justin Timberlake, whose tour raked in $184 million. Of course Bey and Jay did it with just 21 concerts, Justin played 103.
While Jay and Bey are the only hip-hop acts on the list, other artists in the top 10 include top earners One Direction, who grossed a whopping $282 million, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Bruno Mars and The Eagles, among others.
Pollstar’s chart is based on primary ticket sales data for the 2014 calendar year as reported directly to Pollstar along with research to estimate sales of the shows not directly reported to Pollstar.
