ABC/Bob D’AmicoBET Networks plans to go deep inside the hip-hop music industry with the premiere of Inside the Label, an original docu-series that will begin airing next month.
Co-produced by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and A. Smith Productions — of Unsung and Behind the Music fame — the eight-episode series promises to explore the rise and sometimes fall of iconic record labels through the eyes of the founders, artists, competitors and key players involved in the creation of the music, including Andre Harrell, Diddy, Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, Babyface, Teddy Riley, Russell Simmons, Shareefa, Lil Scrappy, Poon Daddy and dozens more.
Featured labels include Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP), Grand Hustle, Loud Records, Murder Inc., Ruff Ryders, Slip-N-Slide Records, Terror Squad and Uptown Records.
According to BET, “each gripping episode will highlight one label and take viewers from the beginning of each label’s inception to current day with never-before seen footage and intimate first person testimonies from hip hop’s most influential contributors.”
Inside the Label premieres on BET Tuesday, May 17 at 9 PM ET/PT.
