Want to learn how to be a “genius” like Kanye West? There’s a class for that.
Montreal’s Concordia University is offering Canada’s first-ever university-level course all about Ye for the fall 2022 semester. The class is called “Kanye vs. Ye: Genius by Design” and will be taught by Yassin “Narcy” Alsalman.
According to the course description, students will “dissect Ye’s art, design, music, celebrity-life, and cultural impacts in the age of information.” The class will also study “the evolution of his genius” and explore “Kanyetive Dissonance,” which is described as “the unique, complex and controversial natures and contexts of Kanye’s body of work and impacts.”
Alsalman also adds in an Instagram post, “This class isn’t only about Kanye. It’s about community, creativity, responsibility, accountability, fame and mental health, dreams and nightmares — and more importantly, self-actualisation.”
The course is open as a free elective to Fine Arts students.
