However, the Compton rapper also surprisingly enlisted Egypt Daoud Dean, the 5-and-a-half-year-old son of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz.
Swizz confirmed that his son produced the beat for “untitled 07 | 2014 – 2016,” a two-part song that features piano instrumentation from the child prodigy, to whom Kendrick refers as “Young Egypt.”
“This is the best Dad moment everrrrr!!!” said his father Swizz. “thx #Kendrick for investing in the future!!!”
So how did this all come together? Alicia offered up the backstory on her own Instagram. “He got up that morning humming a melody….. We went to the piano to find it….he picked it out by ear….he loves to play…. I know that feeling,” Congratulations Egypt for practicing and learning and trying and listening to the music in your heart!”
You can check out Kendrick’s untitled unmastered, the follow-up to his 2015 Grammy-winning To Pimp a Butterfly, on iTunes now.
