A$AP Yams, standing, center; John Ricard/BET/Getty Images for BETA$AP Yams, a founder of the New York rap collective A$AP Mob, has died, his label told Rolling Stone in a statement.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not known. A$AP Yams, whose birth name was Steven Rodriguez, was 26.
RCA Records said, “All of us at RCA Records are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of A$AP Yams. As one of the creative forces behind A$AP Worldwide, Yams’ vision, humor and dedication to the members of A$AP Mob will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”
A$AP Mob’s members include A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, the latter of whom wrote on Tumblr, “You will be missed Bro. We done touched a lot of ground together, landed on a lot of different soil!!! You will always be loved & your spirit will live on!!!”
