2014 Soul Train Awards Air This Sunday

The ceremony, which was taped in Las Vegas earlier this month, opened with R&B superstar Chris Brown, who leads all nominees, and featured showcases from Jodeci, Jeremih, Lisa Stansfield, Kem, Liv Warfield Aloe BlaccBobby Brown, Sevyn Streeter, and Nico & Vinz.

The ’70’s funk and soul group Kool & the Gang, was honored with the Legend Award and received a star-studded tribute from Tamar Braxton, Joe, Elle Varner, MC Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Tank and Ma$e.

On the broadcast, viewers will be treated to a rousing showcase from Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott and Da Brat on their 1996 single “Not Tonight,” which sampled Kool and the Gang. The single originally appeared on Lil’ Kim’s debut album, Hard Core, and featured rhymes by the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of TLC.

Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson, Faith Evans and Boris Kodjoe are among the many celebrities who will present.

Hosted by television talk show host Wendy Williams, this year’s Soul Train awards is set to air on November 30 on BET’s Centric channel beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
